Richard McHenry

| Richard started a carpentry apprenticeship in London in June
1980. Completed Advanced City & Guilds Carpentry & Joinery
in 1985. Worked as a Carpenter & General foreman in the UK,
Germany, Holland & USA on numerous projects. He then went on to
complete his 3 year BTEC National Diploma in building technology.
On completion Richard worked as assistant project manager on the
construction of a new wing and major renovation of Hillingdon
Hospital in West London. In 1993 Richard became the Project Manager
on the multi-million pound restoration of the Rifles 7th Division
Army Barracks on Davies St in Mayfair, London. He migrated to
Australia in 1999 & realising the Australian sun wasn't ideal
for his Irish complexion retrained as a Home Building Consultant
with a major Perth builder. Multi award winning years as a
consultant followed. |

In 2002 Richard & another colleague started what was
possibly Perth's 1st ever building brokerage complete with lead
generating website Home Builders World. As an idea way ahead of its
time, the project was shelved but to this day other building
brokers are still using the same outdated business model. Richard
became one of Perth's most sought after building consultants,
specialising in two-storey designs & developments, and in 2007
achieved in excess of $18 million dollars in new home sales. At
this point, Richard started developing the new business format that
today is H.B.A
Nigel Jewell

Nigel has always had a keen interest in building and design
starting at a young age assisting in the construction &
planning of many home building projects with his Dad in Scotland.
He produced scaled, detailed drawings prior to any architectural
training. Nigel migrated to Australia in 1991 and completed his
Associate Diploma in Architectural Drafting & Design, and
started as a draftsman with one of Perth's top builders. In
addition to his design work, Nigel trained as a contracts manager
& therefore his construction knowledge is of an extremely high
standard which is a common failing in other designers.
Parallel to this he ran his own design business, taking on a
variety of projects, including full project management of
residential homes.

Nigel then joined a boutique style builder and worked for 7
years as a building design consultant, specialising in home
renovations and extensions. Whilst working in this role Nigel was
approached by Richard to become an equal partner in Home Builders
Advantage. Richard had admired Nigel's design work over a number of
years & when the opportunity arose he didn't hesitate to add
the architectural design flair and professionalism in designs that
H.B.A needed.
Richard and Nigel partnership began in 2009. As one of
the building broker pioneers, Richard knew there must be a better
way to help clients get unbiased advice and the best possible
results in design and value of new homes and renovations, so with
his business development experience and Nigel's flair for design,
they established the new, fairer & much more effective building
broker format that is without equal in the industry today.
